Take the easy way out… I see how it is. Just kidding. Not! Anyways, but it’s true, a lot of college people choose to major in business–well, because it’s easy. I know by fact that many college people change their major because they are intimidated by all the math that was required. The word “calculus” does not belong in a college dictionary. Period.
Majoring in business is also a nice conversation starter. Fellow business geeks can talk business over and over. “Hey, so I hear the stock market crashed today.” “Yeah, it was because of _____.” And they keep going on and on with this crazy business lingo, and everyone else is like, “Uhhh??” and they’re sitting their with their mouths wide open in a mysterious astonishment.
Anyways the main point of this is that business draws the attention of many college people for three reasons: unlimited income potential, it’s relatively easy, and you’re your own boss. Almost every college out there offers a degree in business to compensate for these facts. Now everyone applaud for the business people.
Damn, all those negative comments seem to come from people who just hate the fact that this site is linked from the stuffwhitepeoplelike blog. I say hey, go for the free advertising as long as it’s not spam.
I think it’s spot on, family guy, illegal music downloads, earplugs, I did most of that stuff you listed. Though I didn’t major in business.
You’re a fucking POSER with a STOLEN IDEA. End of story.
wack.
I think the biggest problem with this is the fact that it is such a half assed ripoff. The writing and insights on the other blog are the things that have made it popular, something which this one really lacks.
Which is alright, give it a few more weeks and he’ll get bored.
I’ve got an idea for the blog owner..Do the world a favor: do a triple summersault through the air, and disappear up your own asshole.
This blog lacks a lot…like someone who actually knows something about college students. Like, business is a difficult major. A lot of people go into it because there are a number of careers you can get out of it.
And people who pull all-niters are people who study. No partys, has sex, or drinks and calls it an all-niter. IDIOT!
Jesus Christ! What the fuck is your problem?? Are you all from that blog and don’t like that there are now copy blogs? Who gives a shit. I’ve already seen a stuff black people like blog. I didn’t lose my fucking mind on their blog.
Please delete this pathetic blog from the internet. People actually become dumber from reading it.

You forgot one thing, besides comedy.
The fact that if EVERYONE was a business major, then why do the 100 or so other majors come from?
1. No comment on the shitty writing. Oh wait.
2. I am a proud business major and will make a nice fat 6 figures upon getting my undergraduate degree. The deal is sealed. Have fun fielding meager advertisement offers because people like taking verbal shits on your site.
Just throwing it out there that there might be a few college majors that do at least take calculus if not enjoy it…

“Like, business is a difficult major.” Ha, yeah right. Major in math, a science or engineering and say business is hard. The Business majors at my school can’t even handle Calculus 1 so they take these math module things that are no more advanced than high school math. Hell, they can barely handle the liberal arts core classes.
I agree that there’s a lot of jobs available, but, currently, the science and engineering majors are getting the better, higher paying jobs now and that’s only going to increase in the future.
This blog is kind of lame, but the writer was right on about business majors.

How do you know the right career for you– who do you talk to?
First off, not all business programs are standardized, one university or college might have a joke program while another may offer a quality program that involves hard work.
I am a business graduate and I did take calculus, algebra as well computer science classes. These classes were offered by the math and computer science faculty.
While I agree that Science and Engineering programs are very hard, a quality business program can be just as challenging. The difference between the two, if you do well if engineering, you will most likely get a high paying job and be very successful. You can get straight A’s and business and get out there and end up as a sales clerk at the Gap.
In business you need to know how money works, understand finance, which is a whole lot of math on its own and have the proper people skills to make it all work.
One more thing, please do not judge a good finance, MIS or accounting program based on conversations you’ve had with anyone in Marketing or HR, they will never make 6 figures and they wasted a whole lot of money on a stupid degree.
And last but not least, anyone in science or engineering that really wants to be successful will have to merge with a business grad or MBA grad at some point. Just find the right one. One that knows how money works and knows the stock market, not some guy that just throws out stock numbers on a daily basis and freaks out about it. They don’t know what the hell is going on out there, if they did, they would be making money not just talking about it. There is always money to be made if you know how it all works.
Last comment is for blaseblah ….
If you are in business right now, do me a favour, drop out, or stop using the word LIKE !
You won’t get very far in life if you can’t even type 2 lines without giving the impression that you are a total idiot!
goodnight to all !
It depends on which major in the business school someone has. Marketing/management classes are BEYOND easy. Accounting and finance, not easy.
ok, college students do like majoring in business. they also like majoring in other things… like all the other majors. only a few schools offer only business classes, and they are usually for those who didn’t graduate high school.
check out my blog… it’s better.

I have a great sense of humor, but I can’t even begin to find this particular post funny. What an ignorant and unfortunate perception you have of business majors!
While it is true that the programs at some universities and even certain concentrations within the business major can be less difficult (Marketing, Communications, Entrepreneurial Studies), the vast majority of REAL business curriculum is unbelievably challenging. Do you realize that Operations Management, Finance, and Accounting are just as math-intensive as most engineering and science degrees?
I went to one of the top undergraduate business schools in the country and the requirements to get into the program alone were daunting. We were required to have a 3.0 or higher in Calculus I AND II, separate courses in Probability, Statistics, Financial Accounting, Corporate Accounting, and Micro- and Macroeconomics, not to mention a ridiculous high school GPA. That was just to GET IN. Then there was the foreign language requirement, gen. ed. requirement just like any other major, as well as advanced topics required for graduation in Advanced Economic Theory, Econometrics and Statistical Regression Methodology, Finance Theory, Pricing Models for Derivatives (Futures, Forwards, Options, and Swaps), Analysis and Valuation, all on top of a broad-based business curriculum. Still sound easy?
If you don’t get the “lingo”, that’s fine; I’m sure you have a college dictionary somewhere under your copy of ‘High Times’ and ‘Stuff’. You probably wouldn’t understand the equations behind half of what these things mean anyways. You shouldn’t be intimidated by hearing terminology you don’t understand; you should be intimidated by the hardcore math that you don’t realize is behind it and that you’ll probably never comprehend.
If you want to make gross generalizations, try this: all the stereotypical partiers, greeks, jocks, or slackers at my university took Journalism, Sociology, Psychology, or History. Why? Because there was very little homework and time management required in those majors; they could focus all their attention on their partying, social events, football practice, or bong-making while still earning that degree that mommy and daddy were paying through the nose for.
Of course, I’m just some dummy with a perfect SAT score who went into one of the most exclusive programs (business or otherwise) offered in this country; what do I know? Idiot.
No-what is really funny is that every business major thinks they’re going to be making a ton of cash, have a office on the 15th floor, and be living large. Then they get into the real world and realize their undergrad degree doesn’t mean much. Infact, an undergrad in ANYTHING doesn’t really mean much. Yet for some reason business majors think otherwise.
And what’s funnier than that is watching them their first year out of school.
Are you kidding me? : Well said !
Ashley: I have a challenge for you:
Find me anyone that has an office on the 15th floor, making cash and living large that has an undergrad other than business and then we ll talk.
Point is… some business students make it big.. fast… some don’t but at least our degree gives us that opportunity.
Your knowledge of business programs is shameful.
It all depends on the school. The university that I attend has a top tier business program which, I might add is very very selective.
Everyone wants in but only 20-30% actually do because the prerequisites are so demanding not to mention the 3.2 GPA requirement.
Oh also, once you get in, it only gets harder. As an Accounting major I can tell you that it is easily in the top three most difficult majors, along with engineering and math.
To wrap it all up, before you write about something, maybe you should know what happens in real life and not basing things solely on your imagination.
Thank you.
